Can I use an Xbox 360 Wired Controller on my Windows Vista lap top?

I want to connect the Wired Xbox 360 Controller to my Lap top with Vista to play a game, but i was wondering if i need some extra software or something? Thank You.

No. The controller can’t even connect to the laptop. It doesn’t have a USB plug.
Well i bought a Gamespot rip-off wired controller and it works just fine on my pc. It SHOULD work by just plugging it into the USB port like you would on the 360.
